    The last postponed match

Post by SawleyRam on Thu 01 Mar 2018, 11:49 am

I have family coming up from Devon for the match on Saturday (weather allowing travel) which set me thinking I seem to remember a match being postponed at Pride Park due to inclement weather but cannot remember when, can anybody help?

Forest game February 5th 2012. Half a dozen of us cloggies, 40 odd Norwegians and many more from Europe all made it over. A spattering of snow in and around Derby was absolutely no problem. The roads elsewhere in Derbyshire and Staffordshire were a different proposition. Too dangerous to travel for many so it was called off.

Remember that one as we were there.............. got wasted in the Brunny instead Drink

.... so, if the roads are bad up in them there 'ills, Ashbourne, Matlock, Buxton etc. then there is the likelihood that this one might be off too.

I personally think that the EFL should take the decision away from the clubs and make the responsible decision to pistpine all games this weekend. There will be tens of thousands of fans travelling across the country when all sensible advice is not to make unecessary journeys

Nah. We can all walk or get public transport...leave the cars at home. Maybe Mel can lay on buses all over the county?

I'd definitely call ours off, play them now when they are flying and we are not, or later in the season when the roles may well be different? It's a no brainer.

But we won't hold our breath while we wait for the EFL to make a responsible decision . . .

especially if they need to do it independently and quickly . . . :faint:

Val, a sound idea in principle but I reckon I'm a bit long in the tooth for walking a 100 mile round trip. And relying on public transport would mean leaving yesterday.

Wasn't snowed up car parks the reason for the last match cancellation?
The DT's fearless reporter went to the press conference this morning and
he wrote that the snow in the car parks was starting to thaw and the team
had trained on the PPS pitch today.

The weather forecast, more accurate than usual lately (they seem to enjoy
warning us of misery), suggests more snow from tea-time and overnight but
thawing a bit from mid-morning on Saturday. After that, temperatures may
be above freezing and rain is more likely than snow, praise be.

It's been dumping snow on this yank the past week but not as bad a NER has it right now with the storm his way.
