    GTS v Preston (A)

Post by RRC on Sat 31 Mar 2018, 1:33 pm

Is there much to gain by in looking at the opposition's form
after Derby's "performance" on Friday night against one of the
    division's weakest teams?

For what it's worth, Preston are 10th, just 2 points behind Derby.
Like Derby, they were thrashed 1-4 on Friday (by the Wendies),
but they beat Sunderland 2-0 in their previous match, both away
games. At home they've recently beaten Bristol City (2-1), drawn
with Wolves (1-1), and lost to Fulham (1-2).

Back in August, the Rams beat Preston 1-0 at PPS, with Vydra
    scoring from the penalty spot.

Please post your guess before the 12.45 pm kickoff on Monday.

On the back of 4-1 defeats for both sides and them having drawn 15 this season, more than anybody else in the SBC, and us being joint second on 14, a draw would seem on the cards. It won't happen.

They like to play an open expansive, possession based game. IMO we will start with our best available XI in the tried and tested 1-4-2-3-1 formation, quite possibly with a few personnel changes and let them come at us and hit them on the break pretty much like S'land did to us with their 1-4-5-1.

Having said that, it is just as likely that GR tells the S'land starting XI that they got us into this mess, now go and prove it was a one off..........

Very rare I predict a Derby defeat but after freidays performance, I am not very optimistic. 2-1 to PNE

Our performance against Sunderland was so bad it was scary, especially in defence. Having managed to concede four goals at home to one of the worst sides in the EFL it's hard to see us getting anything from the Preston game.

    Preston 2  Rams 0

Without a change of leadership on the pitch I can't see us doing much better than the last few games. Regrettably I can't see anything other than a defeat. Preston 3: us 1

Ok - money where mouth is time for me. Now that we have a change of leadership on the pitch, I'll go for a very optimistic 2:1 to us.

I'd rather than we had Palmer starting rather than Lawrence - but the most important change has finally been made.

Without consulting my crystal ball Rolling Eyes brandy glass I have decided that GR will have stripped Keyhole of the captaincy and handed it to Carson, Jerome will have been left in Derby to clear snow from around Pride Park aided by Lawrence, Thorne and Johnson, the bench will warmed by U/18/23 players and therefore we can look forward to an away win............

PNE 1-2 Rams [Vydra and Weimann]

................ Toast by 3.00pm we should all be celebrating Toast
