McCarthy plays a similar brand to Rowett so I wouldn't want him..but Stimac and Eranio..maybe with Asanovic too..well that would be nice..even better if the could all still play!

After today (v Middlesborough) I think that the odds of him not seeing the next season as manager will have shortened considerably.

If he needed to go to 3 at the back for the team to put out a decent 20 minutes or so, it's a bit damn late to use the formation now.

Middlesborough become yet another team to visit PP and make us look like a team of hasbeens with littel energy, ability and organisation.

I seriously doubt whether MM has confidence that GR will turn it round in time for August.

Well, he did say in a press conference when asked about the change in formation and how long he'd been thinking about it that he had scoured all the DCFC fora and fans were saying it was the best idea..........

......... however, I do believe that his tongue was firmly planted in his cheek at the time.

On the other hand....... he was, apparently, aware that 1-3-5-2 was being put forward on this and possibly on other boards too...........

So, might we really have put him on to the new system?

Personally, as one of those having put the idea forward and argued it, I'm not all that arsed where he got the idea from, this forum, another forum, his staff or his own idea. I am quite simply happy that we have found a formation that seems to work for us. It is far from perfect at the moment and we should get better as the players get mnore and more used to it.

Whether we go up or not, I am pleased we can go into the closed season (hopefully) in the knowledge that playing 1-7-4 has been consigned to the bin. It served its purpose well in that good run but we got rumbled, as we did with 1-4-3-3 and after an average start, a great recovery, we went back to a point a game. I will admit that I was one of those who saw it as the inevitable form blip all teaams get. In the end, blips are usually 10 games max long. Ours was almost double that. 1-3-5-2 offers the same protection at the back and far more attacking options. Going into the summer on the back of 20 points from 19 games would not augur well for next season.

I would like to see 1-3-5-2 as our starting point next season but I would love to see us also with a plan B, C, D and more that we can either switch to mid game or even start with plan E depending on the opposition.

Gary Rowett is putting right the wrongs of the past (including finance issues), youngsters to come through and tactics to sort so maybe we are are expecting a little too much of him and I hope MM will give GR the time to accomplish these tasks. Promotion this season will lead to a big cash splash which is not the way for long term stability. But here's hoping!

That all depends on who we signed if we were to go up. If Rowett were to sign a load of youngsters with lots of potential, who maybe wouldn't immediately want to jump ship were we to come straight back down then it could be a good strategy. Very few of us are/were expecting us to go up this year, I imagine even fewer would expect us to stay up. So use the money and parachute payments to build a team for the next few years as we already have plenty of the older heads to help them. Brentford would be a good example of this.

Very true but sacking him would be even a horrid knee jerk reaction even for Derby.

Unless stimac brought in then that would keep fans at bay again...
Have my doubts now with Rowett but he's done enough to justify another season. Just hope better summer signings

I’d be seriously unhappy if they brought Stimac in. Remind me again of what he’s achieved in management that makes him a serious contender to take on Derby County.

No, no it wouldn't. I dont know why you are so fixated on thinking Stimac would be good and all fans would love him as manager. What exactly has he done management wise for you to think he would be a good manager exactly?
