Not sure but I'd probably play him against Middlesborough. Put him in midfield and tell him to get stuck in, after all no other player in the squad seems to want to do it.

This is a strange one indeed..
I’m not a huge fan the limited times I have seen him he looks like a loose cannon likely to cut someone in half leaving us with ten players..more Mickey Lewis that Gerrant Williams i am afraid and even that is probably paying him a compliment .
But the powers that be see him on a daily basis at least if not actually playing a game so hopefully they have seen something others including myself haven’t .

I think he just needs constant playing time that he isn't getting.

When he skippered the U21s he looked like a real prospect. He ran the side from a defensive midfield position and delivered brilliant set pieces. I'd like to see him get a run in the first team to see if that player is still there. I don't think that injuries have helped his development, but I've seen enough of him to be pleased that he's been given another chance.

Why give him a contract, when he never gets picked..maybe because we won't be making any new signings in the summer?

I agree with the entire statement NER.  At the moment though, I'm more with the bit in bold.

He needs games at SBC level. In one of GTs enforced layoffs he got a regular run in the side and did very well indeed. Since then it's been the odd appearance here and there. Not been picked this season but has been a regular on the bench for a while now.

If he can get back in the groove he had a couple of years back then he is well worth this new contract.

Looking at some comments in other threads of late, I am surprised by the negativity from people who commented on other people being negative.

Hanson is one of our own. He is 22, local and in the 2 runs of games he has had so far, has done well. I will admit, less so outside of those 2 runs due to not being played enough. IMO he has shown sufficient to be given a chance and to be backed by supporters SUPPORTING him.

Jamie Hanson..... he's one of our own!

put him in the side - at least he might care a bit - would rather be mid table with a team that competes 100% every game that this overpaid underachieving pile of shite

I'd rather a young player with a bit of fight in him be given a new contract than an ageing player on high wages who's career is winding down.

I wouldn't be too shocked to hear that was exactly what was said by MM to GR.

20 points from 19 games in 2018 so far. Hanson and the other Academy products are the way forward at the moment as we have no money to buy players........
