    Who do you want?

Post by Loughborough Ram on Sat 28 Apr 2018, 5:58 pm

IF we make the play offs who do you want to play?

It looks like a simple choice between Cardiff or Fulham but still a chance of Villa.

It looks like a big ask against any of them but you just never know. Cardiff maybe suit us best but unbeaten against Villa and a draw away against Fulham should give us hope against any of them especially if we can reproduce the energy that we had against Cardiff.

I'll take us to surprise Fulham over 2 legs. And face Villa at Wembley

    Cardiff for me

Echoes the last game a few years back only needing a draw for reading to spoil the party Afraid

Are we good enough to win on aggregate with two matches in 4 days?
Not being fit enough over two legs probably cost us last time.

Fulham are probably the strongest and in the best form, so I hope they
    overtake Cardiff for automatic promotion.

I'd guess Cardiff and Boro are the weakest teams left.
I don't see how we can meet Boro (75 pts) or Villa (83) before the final.

So Cardiff is my choice - but I fear it's more likely to be Fulham.

I doubt that Fulham will go up via the play offs personally. The law of averages says that they are due a bad run/bad luck and I think that it will be against us in the play offs.

I want a bitterly and recently disappointed Cardiff. I don't fancy two fixtures against Fulham or Villa.

I have only just seen that we still need to match Preston’s result next Sunday.
Can’t even grasp thinking about the playoffs...that “ we fu**ed it up” window is still ajar.

Not quite NER, because of our vastly superior goal difference we only need a draw against Barnsley regardless of what Preston do. Just shows the value of our 'lucky' win against them a few weeks ago.

yup - 1 point does it.

    V Barnsley... surely...?

Who do I want? - We can beat Cardiff over 2 games.

I don't see us beating Villa over 2 games.

I think that we'd have a slim chance of beating Fulham over 2 games.

I don't think that we can play Boro - which is a relief.

Any of the 4 will have have a chance against anybody in the play off final lottery - including us.

To be the best of the rest you should be able to beat anyone, but before that we have only got one game to mess the whole scenario up, Barnsley at home. We can beat any team in the drop zone, Sunderland and Burton anyone?

A defeat for us and a win for PNE sees them extend their season.
A draw for us and a win by 10 goals or more sees them extend their season.

All other scenarios see us extend our season.

Barnsley at home should be a given, however, we are Derby and anything can happen. Especially when the visitors will be fighting for survival.

Cardiff entertain Reading who have nothing to play for and Fulham go to Brum who could still go down. I expect Cardiff to do it and Fulham to finish 3rd.

Boro go to Ipswich. Ipswich have little to play for. It is, however, Mick Mac's last game in charge at Ipswich and he will want to go out on a high. I expect them to give it a real go against Boro and that may just play into Boro's hands.

My prediction is we finish up 6th and play Fulham. First game at Pride Park, return at theirs.

McCarthy left about 3 weeks ago amster, he was supposed to be going at the end of the season but the atmosphere became so toxic that they decided to call it a day.

Before I offer my humble thoughts, I would just like to say thanks to all concerned, for providing us with a brief flirtation with the auto's and the culminating excitement of a shot at the play offs.
At the start of the season most of us were not overly excited, and expecting a mid table rebuilding type season, so kudos to all for getting us this far.
What I believe will happen is Cardiff and us both win, so Fulham here we come.
I would not be so bold to predict the PO outcomes, but I think we will be best served playing Fulham than the others.
Either or any way it has been a great ride this time and worth the money, and should it finish up with us at Wembley once again, I think we should chalk this season up as a good one.

I'd like us and Preston to lose, Fulham smash the Bluenoses 4-0, Reading get a last minute deflected equaliser against Cardiff, and Bolton beat Forest.

That would see both sets of fans celebrating at Pride Park, us owing yet another debt of gratitude to Nigel, and best of all....the Bluenoses finishing bottom but one and getting relegated.

    A man can dream, eh?

Yeah, but even in dreams you can go too far....... Wink

Be great to see Burton stay up but I am only concerned about us getting into the playoffs and then me getting a ticket for Fulham away in the 2nd leg.

Can't see us having any hope whatsoever in a two-legged tie against Fulham. On that basis Cardiff would be better.

To be honest, I would not be at all surprised if there is a complete mess up against Barnsley making it all academic anyway.
