    Vydra: In or Out

Post by Loughborough Ram on Sun 29 Apr 2018, 4:47 pm

Where do you stand on the subject of Matej Vydra?

Rowett explained that he left him out for the Cardiff game because he is targetted early in the games against the more physical teams, so he thinks he may benefit from coming on later in the game when he gets more freedom and opposing players are more fatigued.

But he is our leadimg goalscorer and our most expensive asset so what would you do?

Personally I think that he, and we will benefit from him having a bit of a rest on the run up to the play offs but I think that it's unthinkable that he won't start in the most crucial games, should we get there of course. Big players turn up for big games and I think he would do exactly that.

Depends on when Rowett wants to have any chance of keeping him next year.

Carry on like this and he'll be out like a shot.

I think this wrapping Vyds in cotton wool is the right thing to do. He has been carrying knocks and niggles for ages. He has indeed been targeted by the "more physical" sides. He seems to have spent as much time on the ground holding his side, back, calf, thigh, knee etc in recent weeks as he has actually playing. That is not intended as a criticism of Vyds but of the thugs trying to kick him out of the game and the refs for not protecting the lad.

Leave him out against Barnsley, if we make the playoffs we need him fresh as can be. It seems Jerome has found his scoring boots as well. Only use him in an emergency in the final game. The last thing we need is for him to be taken out for the remainder of the season if we go on for at least two more games.

Maybe keep him wrapped up, depending on whether Barnsley are thugs or not, and play Palmer or Lawrence in the No 10 role.

Lets face facts, playing Vydra as an impact sub has paid dividends against two top teams, why change that?

..... and I remember what happened when we played GT in a nothing at stake, last League match against Ipswich. I don't want that happening to Vyds.
