    Friday and Monday

Post by New England Ram on Mon 07 May 2018, 11:12 am

Have to question if we are going to have the legs to compete with Fulham over two games on Friday then Monday.
Hopefully our experienced players give us an advantage over them in big game situations to counter act the stamina thing.

I think we have a good chance, we drew with them at their place and we were right out of form when they came here yet we only lost 2-0. I think that the timing might just be right to beat them. Whether we have enough to beat our nemesis, Steve Bruce if we both make the final is another matter.

big (at least 2 goals) win in the first leg then we can play counter attack football at their place

if we play well I can see us winning by 2 over the 2 legs - if we don't - we are out.

I think that's right. I don't think that our squad has the depth of fitness to chase the tie in the second leg.

Legs were a problem 2nd half at Villa but I don't see us having to chase the game at PP like we did against Caerdydd.

He might be a nemesis, but we took 4 points out of 6 off them this season. We beat them at ours when we were at the height of our " non-football" approach, letting the opposition have loads of possession but not letting them do anything with it. And we drew at theirs when we were still wondering if our crap run would ever come to an end. (PS: it did!)

Remember when we beat Hull city at home once and away twice in the same season yet still they managed to knock us out of the play offs with their solitary victory.

Lets just stay in the tie at PP.

    Unlike Hull.

I'd be quite happy to go to Craven Cottage 0-0, and still be scoreless after an hour there....

Key to success against Fulham is to get stuck in. Don't let them play their passing game.......... just like sides did to us in our 1-4-3-3 days.

Exactly Stocky..just don’t blow the first leg like last time.
Unless we are doing the blowing and are three nil up after twenty minutes.

Interesting article in the Guardian today written from Fulham viewpoint. Perhaps someone could put it on here??   Didn't realise that Fulham repeatedly choke in the playoffs.......... and the   manager doesn't seem to know  we have changed our formation. COYR

I reckon the first half an hour tonight will decide the whole thing.

There'll be a brilliant atmosphere at the start. If we come out firing the crowd will be a massive help. If we come out like a bunch of terrified, arthritic snails then the crowd will son turn ugly and become Fulham's 12th man.

I reckon that it's easier to defend when you're tired than attack. We need to score a couple early on and then take a breather - letting Fulham come on to us and hopefully getting a third from a counter attack, but mainly saving energy for Monday.

If we can go into Monday two goals up we'll be OK. They'll have to go for it and we can exploit the gaps. If we have to chase the game on Monday then our geriatric squad won't cope. I also reckon that we'll struggle if it finishes level tonight.
