On the other hand, we get a new guy in with his own ideas and preferred system, needs to ship some out that don't fit the new system, ship some in that do fit it and try to get our Academy graduates into the squad.

Just the sort of stability we need........................... NOT!!

MM has to get it right this time then?

Shane Nicholson has tweeted that he'd like it to be Paul Cook.

Interesting on a couple of levels. SN works for Derby County on Rams TV. I doubt that he'd dare tweet about Rowett's replacement without if Rowett were still 'in the building'. Also, Paul Cook is a bit of a random name. A cynical person might think that the club were trying to build some excitement over the next managerial appointment.

Well I imagine once Mel said “ yes Paul you can talk to them this time” that Rowett knew there was some writing on the wall and there was less confidence in him.
Is this club ever gonna get sorted.

Mel, like many of us, doesn't put up with boring football...unless we are winning! I've said it for months now.....just hope the new manager plays 'The Derby way. Paul Cook has been a very successful manager, is passionate, and his team's play attractive football....not a bad shout!...although Eranio would be my choice!

A bit like my indifference to the annual Rams kit announcement, I'm feeling a bit indifferent about yet another change of manager.

I'll take whoever we get and cross my fingers that they have a workable plan to get us back up to the Premiersh*t, and the wherewithall to carry out that plan.

Good luck whoever takes over, you'll need it

Derby County Football Club can confirm that Gary Rowett has asked for permission to speak with Stoke City regarding the vacant manager’s position at the bet365 Stadium.

The club is now in discussion with Stoke regarding the matter and will update our supporters in due course.

The way the words are forming in my mouth, I know I will be universally despised, but football has changed and the cynical money grubbing nature of it all, has lead me to the conclusion, that what is required is the appointment of a Mick Mccarthy/Big Sam/Colin wanker type appointment.

I fear that the pretty style leads to only one conclusion, and a series of hard won 1-0 battles was what got us there last time, and may just be the way again.

I think we need to forget "the derby way" $hite and as supporters be grateful the team is winning.
Once we have got to the PL then change the lot around, but this has to be the most heartbreaking league of all to get out of and it is getting worse every season.

The managers mentioned all know their way around football and IMHO offer the best way to get out of this quagmire and move this club forward.

OK I am of to put me tin hat on, fire away! Digging

If nothing I liked him because I believed he was invested and cared.
Possibly not then so he can piss off as far as I’m concerned.
Going to be another summer of missing out on possible signings as we will be manager hunting.

I just want to be excited about next season. And I'm pretty easily pleased.

Not sure about Mick McCarthy, but Colin and Big Sam would be the closest you could come to guaranteeing promotion - and I'd put Steve Bruce in that category. I like attractive football, but I like winning more.

Then we could go for an up-and-coming manager like Cook, Wilder or even the guy from Lincoln. Something romantic about giving a manager a shot at the big[ish] time.

Or maybe someone with strong Derby links such as Igor or Simmo. We've had about two decades of failure punctured by a the Kranky blip, so why not do something silly?

Possibly we could go for an unknown foreign coach and try to do a Huddersfield. I really like the idea of buying a striker I've never heard of for peanuts from Lithuania and finding out he's the dog's danglies.

At this point I really don't care as long as it's not Darren Wassall.

I'm sick and tired of the same managerial merry-go-round, the same names banded around every time a vacancy comes up.

Why don't we go for a foreign manager. Someone who can inject a fresh approach without any previous English/Uk experience. Someone who can manage/coach without interference. We need a manager with fresh ideas and to kick football back into Derby. Mel needs to employ a man he can trust and to let him manage!!

to the Derby Way... it doesn't exist--except in abject failure.

Will be very frustrated and disappointed if Rowett leaves for Stoke. It doesn’t bode well for next season if the manager is happy to jump ship so quickly

He should be allowed to speak on 2 conditions
1- we get his salary plus the compensation we have to pay - no unemployed merry go around shit thank you plus £2m quid AND
2 - if they don't offer him the job he and his entire backroon staff leave with no notice and no compensation- he used us once to get a pay rise - now fishcake off

So if Rowett goes that would be 9 managers in 10 years at Derby...jfc that is a huge issue of why we are still in the Championship.

no guarantees whoever it is. But Igor and Eranio know the club, are both very well thought of, Igor has management experience at club and national level, and has experienced getting promoted out of the championship. Eranio has many years coaching experience and both will have extensive contacts all over the world to find players! All in all , my dream team appointments...what would be wrong with those 2 in charge?
