That list is so depressing wouldn’t want any of them, with perhaps the exception of Igor but that would only be for sentimental reasons

    It could be worse

    Steve McLaren
    Billy Davies
    Nigel Pearson
    Steve Sherwood
    Alan Pardew
    Steve Cotrill

What about an off the wall suggestion. Frank Lampard is close to agreeing to join Ipswich alledgedly, why not give somebody like that a go

If I could bring myself to care I'd suggest Paul Cook, but I find the revolving door of the manager's office at DCFC deeply depressing.

    Whatever happened to stability ?

Cowley might turn out to be a BC type appointment

Cook is already an SBC Manager with promoted Wigan...... but we used the same logic with GR and Stoke...

Pearson? If the reports of the reasons behind his sacking are true then no way would MM rehire him.

Igor? He says he has unfinished business at Derby but what real success has he had as a manager?

Simmo. Was he sacked or was that just SM and the rest simply followed him? I don't know. Even if he was sacked, he was the Assistant Manager and now has an age group World Cup to his name......

If you want to bring in Igor then I think that it would only work if he brought a promising up and coming coach with him. As a figure head he would be brilliant but his record suggests that he can't translate his winning mentality and personality onto his players, so he should be the Jim Smith figure but the Steve McLaren figure would be just as important if we want to succeed.

Personally I wouldn't want Igor to taint his reputation as a club legend by failing as our manager, so I'd leave well alone.

If Rowett had taken the Stoke job in January I'd have been devastated. With his combined record of having had a woeful Birmingham in the top six before being unjustly fired and having taken Derby to the top two with a solid run of form it looked like he had the Midas touch--the next great young English manager, perhaps. That may still prove true, but the moves he made in the transfer market and our annual post- January collapse suggest otherwise. Now the doubters who warned all along that the football was uninspired and the results fortuitous seem to have been right. I'm indifferent to his departure now.

For continuity's sake I didn't want him sacked, and that is a major concern now. New managers want to spend money to acquire "their own players," and inevitably half of them won't work out. Four years from now we'll still be paying the wages of half-a-dozen more benighted Connor Sammon-types.

Whoever we get, Cardiff's fortunes suggest that it needs to be a promotion specialist. We've tried ever whichway of getting out of this division, and in the sixteen years since Jim Smith's relatively golden years ended in relegation, only the hiring of a journeyman promotion specialist has actually worked. Just because Billy Davies is a piece of sentient filth and had no long-term plan for sustained success doesn't mean that we didn't do the right thing by hiring a person of his skillset in the first place.
