Not as simple as that though. There's Frank's contract. Then there's Frank's PA, Frank's personal trainer, Frank's hairdresser, Frank's personal chef, Frank's financial advisor, Frank's agent, Frank's wife, Franks four bodyguards, Frank's chauffeur, Frank's personal shopper, Frank's life coach, Frank's image consultant, Frank's marketing manager, Frank's marketing assistant, Frank's social media guru and Frank's personal feng shui advisor's contracts to finalise.

And then there's Jody, Frank senior and Harry's contracts. And then there are there own retinues. I reckon there'll be at least 100 contracts to organise...then there's the severance pay clauses.

He did, however, play for the most boring of the top teams. Chelsea were a bus parking, cautious team with brilliant forwards. If he tries to replicate that at Derby we'll be a boring, bus parking team who value keeping possession over everything else. It'll be identical to Clement.

Incidentally - Jody Morris has a superb record with Chelsea youth teams. He has the sort of management experience that I'd be looking for if we were going to take a punt o an up-and-coming manager. Can't we appoint Morris as manager and Lampard as a coach? I'd be happy with that.

Would MM be insisting on attractive football? Who said lampard will or wont play an attacking football?

John Terry has confirmed that he has left Villa, could this be the reason for the delay in announcing Lampard as our new manager.

I can see Lampard in charge, Terry as his assistant and Jodie Morris as first team coach. They won't come cheap.

We wanted a captain that would lead and Terry he has been one if the best in premier.
We would have two of this generation players who have won most major titles. Profesional and commited. With jody morris who had worked with yhe young upcoming chelsea starlets...
    All sounds good on paper.

Frank Lampard, Jody Morris, John Terry, Chelsea dream management team? I think (hope) not. We won't have any money left to buy even the Long Eaton centre forward!

True. However, we could swap him for Martin Wink

No slight on either player intended BTW. Who knows, the new manager might decide that he wants a target man up top which would see one or both of Nuge and Jerome made available for transfer......

Money won't be an issue. This is a massive appointment for DCFC and the new manager, and funding will have been one of the key points to be agreed.

I've seen plenty of false dawns in my time as a Rams fan, but with this appointment I feel we're on the brink of something very exciting.

Fat Frankie's Black & White Army,
We're not mad we're feckin' barmy.

Stroke of brilliance or complete and utter madness? None of us have the slightest idea. IMO the only thing he is missing is experience. He seems to have the rest of the package. Here's hoping he learns quickly.

A very warm welcome Frank. You have said you want to utilise our young uns. Time they had a chance. I look forward to seeing them perform and learn.

Could be. But, really, what have we got to lose? If we're not going to be at the top playing against the best we may as well go broke and play Carlisle in division three.

Yes got to agree that Brian Clough was the stupidest decision ever, but BC didn't get the sack, he gave his notice in and the board accepted it. That was a stupid decision to write that letter Brian.

We still won the title after BC left. It was stupid though. However, if we now get relegated with a squad full of expensive, old ex-Premier League luvies and failing kids - all on Harry Redknapp salaries, we could be watching AFC Derby County ground sharing at Meadow Lane before too long.

Maybe I should rephrase - this has a greater potential to be the stupidest decision than any made by Derby County since sacking Dave Mackay.

I know that I'm in a minority of one, and I hope that I'm the one eating humble pie in a couple of years, but I absolutely hate this appointment.

I understand what you mean. All i will say is that Lampard comes across very well..and has high standards. If he manages how he played, trained and conducted himself throughout his playing career..then i think this is not only a very exciting appointment but also a very shrewd one.
