How do you feel about our signings?

Post by Stockport Ram on Thu 09 Aug 2018, 12:17 am

Very pleased with all of the incomings.

Youth, pace, Prem experience, international winners.

I can see a new centre half, left back, DM, attacking midfielder and quality choices up front,  all with pace, strength, and ability on the ball.

Those left will choose their fate - stay and watch, or leave and play.

Well done Frank. ....and even more well done Mel.

Any more outs now are a bonus. We are well set.  I'd take another right back if Tomore is our CH, but beggars can't be choosers.  If Tomore is our right back, then we need one more, unless Evans is the CH.

Regardless, better than I'd dared hope a month ago.

Yes, it all started a little slowly with Frank being at the World Cup and then the training camp abroad. Frank obviously realised what we needed (quite a lot as it happens) and has moved heaven & earth to get his targets. Well done to Mel as well for again backing his manager before any money had really come in (Vydra). I hope we are still ok regarding FFP and that a few of the fringe players will get the message & clear off now.

Fans wanted change and they have got buckets of it.
Frank is going to come off as a genius if he has a vision of how he wants to play and he successfully integrates 8 signings and competes.
In some ways he’s not made it easy on himself.
    Come on Frank..do it

After the noises coming out of the club regarding spending, I was expecting a very quiet window unless we shifted loads out, that has happened yet we have still spent a lot and brought in new players all over. Exciting times

In all my many years spent following the Rams I've never known a summer when we signed so many new players. I've almost lost count. Is it eight now ? Time was when two or three new faces would be considered quite exciting.

FL obviously knows what he wants and is in a hurry to get there, and it helps when he has such a supportive owner. I'm almost expecting to hear that Loftus-Cheek has been seen at Moor Farm with a pen in his hand.

    Bring it on.

I would say we have at least 7 players who should be playing first team football elsewhere

Most of the outs we seem, as fans, to want to lose are mostly in their last year of their contracts.
If not now, certainly in January, they will go almost anywhere to get playing time and try to persuade clubs to offer them a deal........... one would hope.

Too many in my opinion. This has all the hallmarks of a harry Redknapp window, a scatter gun approach with nobody having a clue whats happening next.

Scott carson tweeted yesterday that lunchtime at Moor farm is like speed dating, every time you look up there's somebody new sat in front of you.

Agree..like I said Frank has made things very hard for himself in mu opinion.
If he has more than half these signings work out and he can blend them in and we are still competitive then he is a genius in my book..
Unless he’s thinking more next season and not this.

Slightly off topic, but what fascinates me is who has been scouting these players. The Chelsea lads I can understand, but what about the others.

Is there an underground scouting network that we are unaware of, or are they relying on videos.

One of the slowest teams in the football league last season with and without the ball (certainly with it) I think that issue has now been well at truly resolved ..if nothing else.

Youth and pace; at least if we're still not good enough we'll be disappointing in a different and more interesting way. So that's something.

I'm happy with the injection of youth and pace but worried about how Frank is going to integrate all these new players with our rather bloated squad as of now. I want them all to do well and lead us to glory as we shall see. I think this is probably the first transfer window I have enjoyed in a while.

I’m happy. How can you not be excited about the prospect of fast attacking football after sitting through last season’s borefest. Young, hungry players mixed with experience and a young, hungry management team. Fabulous.

In all my years, I’ve never experienced a transfer window quite like it. I’m excited again.

I think most would be happier if we had also managed to move the "surplus to requirements" players on.

Obviously Anya and Olsson are safe due to injury. Martin is said to have an abdominal "issue" and is also not going anywhere IMO. Thorne looks to have lost the extra weight he was carrying last season but not regained any of the speed and mobility he had lost. This may mean he won't be moving on any time soon. A great shame as his huge potential looks like never being realised.

Reports of Blackman moving to Sporting Gijon in Spain. I am happy for the lad as he had no future with us.

That leaves Forsyth, Jerome, Nugent? Pearce, Butterfield and possibly one of BJ/Hudds to be found new homes for the season.

I also expect either Roos or Mitchell to go out on a half or full season loan WITH a recall clause. Recall clauses can't be invoked in the first month of a loan.

ins very happy - quality loans and some exciting lower league players who hopefully will be able to step up.

Proof if proof was needed that we have a lot of overpaid dead wood in the squad - weisman happened quickly and Vydra turned into a saga but not even rumours for a lot of the rest.

Like shackell I expect them to sit out their contracts - they have shown little desire before why would that change now.

Lampard is single minded, he will have told those players (in a nice way) who are surplus there is no regular place for them and either they agree to move on when there is an opportunity or have their egos deflated by not playing, any problems could arise from those sh*t-strirring agents who do not like their 15% commision being devalued.

I'm SO excited about some of these signings. Like everyone else, I'd prefer it if we shipped some out and you have to worry about a bloated squad, but we have genuine competition for positions now.

I suspect the end of window panic will still see a bunch of players leaving on perms and the rest will follow as the loan window comes to a close.

mate we saw Hanson go - no-one else is stupid enough to pay the wages they are on at Derby

Only hope someone will pay a proportion of them and take them on loan now

Quite hopeful that the squad has been improved, especially in three ways --
    -- balance of the side
    -- energy/effort
    -- pace/speed
three things that have held us back for too long.

On paper, the new signings seem to meet our needs pretty well, assuming that they can
rise to the club's ambtions. They've all talked well and smiled for the cameras, but talk is
cheap -- walking the walk is harder.
    Fingers crossed
No idea whether Lampard (not forgetting Jody Morris) can get us promoted this season
but it looks more promising than for ages and god knows the football should be a damn
sight more exciting than Rowett's safety first brand.

Craig Ramage seems genuinely enthusiastic about what's happened --

We have been desperate for a manager to walk through the door, take the bull by
the horns and say 'right, this is what needs changing'.

    Frank has not messed about.

He [Lampard] has identified the problems in the squad - it lacked energy and pace.
He has really gone at the engine room, the middle of the park. He identified that we
    are an ageing side.

I expected Gary (Rowett) to do what Frank is doing now because Gary had three
months at the end of one season to identify the problems.

Listen, it might not happen for Derby this year but things seem to be changing and we are
moving away from that ageing side.

It needed this because we have been nearly men for too long now. We haven't been good
enough. Every season we have missed out or petered out after Christmas, so there was
    something not quite right.

Frank is a winner. He will want to succeed as a manager, and be a top manager.
