    It could be worse

Post by RRC on Thu 23 Aug 2018, 12:17 am

Next time we moan about Lampard, maybe we should think about this --

22 -- pts 2 -- Stoke (managed by Gary Rowett)
23 -- pts 1 -- Reading (managed by Paul Clement)
24 -- pts 0 -- QPR (managed by Steve McLaren)

Championship table, 22 August, after 4 games.

Nigel Pearson has had to flee the country!
Only joking -- he's managing second-placed Leuven in the Belgian First Division B.

That's a worrying trend. The three worst managers in the division were all hired by Mel.

...who hired Lampard? Afraid  Afraid  Afraid

Stoke got spanked 0-3 by wigan last night

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45281521

Talking to Stoke fans where I was working today, most of the crowd went home at HT after booing the team off.

They are thoroughly disillusioned with it all, best players sold, no apparent replacements despite parachute payment, the Everton loanee red carded who they say is the only one even trying.

They are already talking of a second fall

Any of this sounding familiar? Afraid

McJudas needs to bring in some fresh blood. Maybe Richard Keogh, Chris Martin, and Craig Bryson on season loan would save his job...

I'd rather he stick around, as I'm sure he will. I was only thinking of actually marketable players. Sadly no one's lining up to pay Butterfeet's wages.

A few weeks back, a club did try to sign Butterfield but he refused to go.

It might have been Reading -- can't remember for sure or find a link.
His reason for rejecting the move was rumoured to be that it was too far south.
He's from Bradford and started his career at Barnsley. When he was a Norwich
player, he had a loan spell at Crystal Palace but, apart from that, nothing further
    south than Derby.

Wages will probably be a problem with most of the players that Derby need to offload.
My guess is that only the end of their contracts will shift some of them.

Btw I can't see Martin being quick enough to be in Lampard's plans. When he played
for the U23s this week, he looked fit and made some nice touches, but he was well
behind the play when they broke quickly.

I was told on Tuesday night that Butterscotch could be on his way to Oldham, here's hoping.

    Fingers crossed

That would be wonderful. Except for Oldham.

Yes, I agree. He just needs a fresh start. He's not incapable, he just doesn't fit in.

Unfortunately northern  Championship clubs must now have his measure??

Oldham would at least pay SOME of his wages...
