The last crusade. (RTE have been showing them all)

Always been a bit of a sucker for things mediaeval.

To give myself the chance to reassess it. Which I did. And it's still the emperor's new clothes of films.

    Merry Christmas to you too.

Just watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The weakest of the 3 (I don't even count the Crystal Skull one) but still good.

    7/10

You called the characters in Avatar "Wafer thin" and said it had an "audience-are-stupid script." Yet rate an IJ film as "good" Dunno Dunno Dunno  :lol!:

I've never been able to watch Indiana Jones movies, partly because I was far too young to appreciate them when my dad subjected me to the torture of watching them over and over, but also because I now find the plot boring and the effects and cinematography very poor and unbelievable

I guess that's just a sign of the age difference between us, and the difference in taste.

Having said that I can't say I actually disagree with your assessment of James Cameron and Avatar in general, this is the only film of his I've really rated highly, I enjoyed True Lies a little, but hated Terminator, Aliens and The Abyss. What I like most of all about Avatar, is the CGI effects etc, But I also think it has a great plot. I have no doubt in my mind that it could have been a better film, but based on the films I've seen in the last 5 years, I stand by my score.

I watched Looking For Eric the other night, was quite surprised with how much I enjoyed it, Terrible acting, poor plot, I hated Eric as a footballer, but it was fun in parts and something about Eric and his "couldn't care less" attitude kept me watching.

I didn't mean it like that, at the risk of digging a deeper hole, allow me to explain... By the time I was old enough to understand the IJ movies, the effects, and filming techniques were well out of date, and meant that the experience of watching those movies was far less enjoyable for me than it would have been for someone old enough to watch the movies on release.

please don't scratch my eyes out... :(

I stand by what I said about it when I saw it for the first time.

Wafer-thin characters, a typical James Cameron-the-audience-are-stupid script - all papered over by computer graphics.

    Completely over-rated.

That's exactly what I thought about it. I saw it in 3-D which is the only thing that saved it for me. All that money on the graphics and the only plot was stupid white man meets wise american indians. Dances with Smurfs.

Harry Potter & the strung out storyline to make maximum boxoffice takings.

Well that's what it should have been called!!!

What a load of tosh 4/10
infact I'll give it an extra 5 points as they have also made a video game out of it as well, & if you know the ending of the film you will realise that you also ahve to buy partII of the game next year, or maybe you're not meant to realise.

As my mate Johnny said once
"Ever had the felling you've been had?"

    Four Lions

I enjoyed the concept, although it wasn't as funny as I'd hoped. The ending seemed rather forced, but very watchable.

I still don't get the point of it. Was about a couple that never spent christmas with their family, then due to adverse weather conditions they had to, but they both had an awful time. Then by the end of it they decided they should be with family over christmas?

    Dunno

Haha, at least you got the second word right    Embarassed

Me and the Mrs started watching this the other day - it is absolute garbage, it wasn't at all funny and nothing seemed to really be happening. We made it through two of the Christmases and then turned it off.
One of the worst films I have ever tried to watch!
