Player of the Month - Dec/Jan Nominations

Post by Guest on Mon 08 Feb 2010, 1:03 pm

Who has been you prize Ram for the Robbie phone-in calling, Forest-destroying, Scunthorpe-flopping, fortunate-but-somehow-deserved-point-at-Newcastleing 8 weeks of DCFC banter and canter.

I'm going to go for Stephen Bywater as I think he's the only player to play to a (good) level of consistency.

Barker for me, the results over the period might make it look like a strange choice but he's looking the centre back we've been craving for years.

Gary Teale for me, he's hardly played which is a plus in itself but he came on against forest & made a brilliant run between 2 players and got upended for the free kick leading up to our goal, priceless!

I think that Barker is a good shout - particularlyover the last couple of weeks.

It certainly wasn't a joke. From an improvement perspective, this lad is keeping Russel Anderson out of the team and doing exceptionally well considering the step up. I for one, never expected him to be more than a bench warmer, worst case scenario player, how wrong was I?

All XI players were at fault for those performances, and the more experienced showed no desire to turn the game. He played out of his skin against Forest and I think he deserves some credit.

It is nice to see a lad showing what playing for Derby means to him, and giving his all. Some of his positional play and blocking was superb versus Sheff Utd too.

Not a popular choice, but I feel justified to choose him.

Barker, he's becoming the player we hoped he'd be.

Buxton made the divison's Team of the Week v Sheff Utd. Whilst I don't agree his performances over the last two months deserve POTM(s) he is improving and deserves some recognition.

    Mceverley. j

Irrepressible, despite injuries, general cock ups etc the lad comes back time and again.

Has a willingness that puts Barker to shame, never afraid to take one for the team, pissed Florist off big time with his throw-in antics, and has weighed in with a stonking match winning goal also to put us in the 5th round

I would not pick him for skill but for HEART alone he deserves recognition :f_appl10.gif:

Barker or Bywater for me. Barker edges it for me because the defence has looked a lot more solid recently and Bywater's kicks let him down sometimes, though he has made some cracking saves.
