In light of the new Freddy Kruger film, which, if any, horror films have actually put the frighteners on you..

For me, aged 15, sneakily watching The Exorcist in my room after bed-time scared the living day lights out of me!

For reasons I still don't fully understand, The Lost Boys really shat me right up.

The first few nightmare on Elm Street Films really did scare me but perhaps I shouldn't have been watching them at 12 years of age!
I remember watching one of them round a mates house - we all slept in the front room and in the middle of the night I woke up to see the shadow of a plant with 5 leaves that looked like the blades on Freddie's fingers - I have never been so scared in all my life - until I realised it was only the shadow of a plant and not Freddy coming for me!

My two youngest just seen that for the first time the other week.
Thought the child catcher would freak em out but they were cool about it.
Scared my 17 year old shi*less though.

Remember watching some old black and white ghost story when I was a kid.
Just remember these ghosts looking in through windows and the scarey music.
About the only time a movie has scared me.

Saw shat me up when I first watched it aged about 11, but now whenever I watch it I find it hilarious.

Recently, Paranormal Activity did me. Hated it. I dont even know why, its possibly the least scary film ever. Was just hard to sleep having got home at 2am due to my mates car breaking down in the middle of no where.

i have always found horror films in the main bordering on comedy

The only film to have had enough "horror" to bother me for many weeks after was Schindlers list.

Never was "mans inhumanity towards his fellow man" better shown.

The sheer scale of the holocaust was the most devastating thing of all.

No wonder they still pursue the perpetrators today.

When he tries to flirt with that ginger reporter on late kick off, it's the creepiest thing I have ever seen.

Things like Aliens and Nightmare on Elm Street don't scare me particularly as I know there's no chance of that actually happening.

Films like The Shining were a human has just flipped and could definitely happen get to me more.

In saying that nothing scared me like the X-Files when I was younger..
