    Cars.

My daughter seemed to enjoy it more than me.

    6/10 if you're 3; 4/10 if you're 43.

Wow I must have a really rubbish taste in movies, everyone on here, who's opinion on most matters I normally respect, seems to have completely different opinions to mine on most movies, I loved cars, and the kids even more.

    The Hangover 5/10

It was alright, I suppose. Bit dissapointed, everybody had told me how funny it was. I found it moderately amusing at best.

Taste is taste, Alvo. How mundane life would be if we all had the same.

I'm not that taken by cars as things so a film that seems to engage adults on car as object of desire level left me a bit flat. that and the fact that that twat Jeremy Clarkson's voice is in it tended to put me off.

Does anybody else love 'The Lion King?' That's one of my favourite films of all time (not sure if we covered this somewhere before actually, or maybe that was a different forum.)

It and Toy Story 1 are the best Disney/Pixar films ever made.

Over the last week I have watched

    Disappearence of Alice Creed. 5/10

Bit predictable, a bit boring, a little bit annoying, wished I hadn't bothered.

    The Expendables 7/10

Enjoyable, entirely predictable, extremely high budget, Jason Statham playing strong silent thug, who would have guessed, but with a cast containing so many famous names it alwys stood a chance of being watchable. Look at the poster and if you think you'll like it you probably will because there are no hidden mysteries, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

    The Sorcerers apprentice 7/10

I'm a Nicholas Cage fan anyway so there was always a chance I'd like this. Again, like the one above no real mysteries. Child has hidden powers but doesn't realise, someone comes and helps him on his reluctant road to discovery, saves world ta da. Don't let the simplicity put you off, give it a go, you may well like it.

Get him to the Greek 8/10

I don't like Russell Brand per se but I have now seen him playing an ageing, drunken, drugged up rock star twice and loved both films (foretting Sarah Marshall). Some entertaining moments, some touching moments and a surprisingly funny performance by P Diddy all went to make this a fun film.

    Just Married - 3/10

Standard "boy meets girl, get married, fall out, realise they love each other" stroyline set to a less than moderately funny story line.

    Godfather 1 - 6/1-

Still don't see what the fuss is about

I've got all 3 on sky plus to watch, got about half way through the first one and i tend to agree with what you said. Will give it more of a chance though.

    Death Race 2...

If you liked the first one, as I did, then you may enjoy this, it's an interesting prequel, which plots the creation and birth of the death race concept. Some of it is a bit far fetched, and if you didn't like the first one, don't even look at this twice when it catches your eye as you pass the DVD shelf in your local asda.

Toy Story 3 ... Yes I know I am behind the times with this one but I loved it. Thought it was much better then TS2 and I loved the ending. 9/10 Next up for me is How to Train your Dragon.

Saw four films on the plane back to Japan...

Easy A - Teen comedy staring Emma Stone which closely parallels the plot of The Scarlet Letter. Pretty good actually, briskly paced and reasonably funny in places. 6/10

Disclosure - Confused drama starring Michael Douglas as a man accused of rape by Demi Moore who finds out it's part of a bigger plot. It's basically two hours based around a not-particularly good sex scene but if you like any of the principal actors (I quite like Michael Douglas) it's worth a watch. 6/10

Wall Street 2 - A bit pointless, and the end only works if you abandon your ideas of what motivates the characters and not nearly as damning of Wall Street's actions recently as it should been. Still, a very well acted drama by a fine cast, including Eli Wallach, who must be about 400 by now. 6/10

The Town - Crime drama set in Boston about a thief who falls for a victim of one of his gangs bank robberies. It's easy to be sniffy about this since it's written/directed/starring Ben Affleck but it's actually a well made film and grabs the action for the duration. Predictable end, and certain aspects did nothing for me but overall the pick of the bunch and I can kind of understand the buzz around it going into the oscars. 7/10

    OK. Christmas films

    How To Train Your Dragon.

A really lovely kids film 9/10

    The Expendables

Silly action film with a spot the famous action heroes game. Predictable but fun. A decent waste of time. 7/10

    Shutter Island

I don't like Leonardo Di Caprio but he manages to pull this one off. It's twisty and confusing but is a good story. 6/10

    Inception

Was quite drunk when I watched this so didn't really get it. Probably a film to be watched whilst sober but the effects were good.

    127 Hours

Disappointing. I thought the concept for this film gave a lot of potential that, in my opinion, was poorly executed by Danny Boyle. I think he tried to 'Slumdog' it, and all the racey, fast-moving camera techniques really didn't work.

A character that could have been a lot, lot darker and deeper, and did a worryingly small amount of self-reflection for someone in such a situation. Really, we learn very little about him, seeing as he was trapped for so long. The 'arm' scene was fairly well carried out, but the ending very flat.

I guess this may have been a result of the guy this happened to having a large say in how it came across, but it still could have been done much better.

Wacthable, and will stir interest so probably do quite well regards income but I'd save your money.

Shrek Forever After - 8/10 Cute movie, loved how Puss is fat as all heck. Somewhat sad it's the end of the series though.

Halo - 5/10 Awesome animation, good story but not really a Halo fan so that took something away from it.

    Little Fockers 5.5/10

Not great, but I wasn't expecting it to be great. Was alright, there was the odd funny bit now and then, but it just felt a bit forced to complete the story. The end was far too cheesey as well.

    Two positives though:

    1) Burton Cineworld finally turned all the lights off! I was ecstatic
    2) Owen Wilson played a role that was almost exactly the same to his Hansel role in Zoolander. Loved it.

    Milk

Not one for the homophobe, but an excellent portrayal of the gay rights movement in America. Some excellent acting fom Sean Penn, but the film did tend to drag a little through all of the political campaigning.

    7/10.

    Season of the Witch

Words can't describe how bad this film is - when you hear a knight of the Crusades reminding another knight that he "saved his ass" you know you're watching a truly awful film.

    0/10 - and it's lucky to get 0.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Loved it. Really like the Salander character and thought the suspense was built up nice and slowly rather than the kerrpow! that seems to be the done thing in Hollywood these days.

Will watch the second part of the trilogy tonight.

    8.5/10
