    Cruel Intentions

    Dangerous Liaisons for teens.

For reasons I don't even want to consider analysing, I have a soft spot for this film.

Must be something to do with her out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

    Jackass 3D

Same concept as always, same rankness as always. Enjoyable, in a weird 'bloke having a beer and wanting some light entertainment way', all the same.

    The Adjustment Bureau

A remake of (or at least 'inspired by') A Matter of Life and Death. Just like almost every other film ever, it can't match up.

However, it's enjoyable for an hour and a half or so and Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are very good.

Linked to my previous post, The Life and death of Colonel Blimp has just been on BBC2.

    A truly brilliant film. 9/10

And now, astonishingly, The Red Shoes is on.

A perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Outstanding, funny, pointent. Loads of brilliant observations about growing up and life in general. It really is fantastic in every way. Reminded me a bit of Wes Anderson's films. Would watch it again right now 10/10.
Ruined slightly by the type of punter you often get at indie cinemas the whole 'I get the jokes the most and will laugh loudest' thing was somewhat tiresome especially at pointent times during the film. It's a cinema not a pantomime! 2/10 for the other people there.

    The Eagle

Liked this, though it's a bit grisly (notably when they eat a dead rat. Raw)

This was originally going to be called 'The Eagle of the Ninth' (like the book it's based on) but they changed the title in case the hard of thinking thought it was about golf.

    Robin Hood

The one with Russel Crowe in!

8/10 - I enjoyed this despite it altering the facts of English history and Russle Crowe's very strange accent!!!

Saw 5 - Not great. Jigsaw is managing to control things from beyond the grave with instructions and pre-recorded cassette tapes he left inside his body. The series should have stopped at Saw 3, really. 6/10

Bolt - Really good actually! Dillusioned dog that thinks its a super hero because of a part it plays in a TV programme travels across the country to find his 'person'. Look out for the talking pigeons aswell. 8/10

UP! - Better than Bolt, and was actually quite sad. An old man realises he failed to achieve his lifes dreams due to the monotony of life when his wife dies. He then sets out to fulfill his dreams in the company of a small mailman (a boy scout) and a talking dog called Doug. I really... SQUIRREL... I really enjoyed it. 8.5/10

    Dunkirk

Better than bog-standard flag-waver featuring almost every British actor alive and working in the late 50s. Richard Attenbrough, John Mills, Bernard Lee, Lionel Jeffries, Barry Foster, Keneth Cope and a whole host of that's-him-out-ofs.

    The last song.

A nice film predominantly about a dad & daughter relationship.

It struck a cord with me as i have two daughters

I cried about four times through it as it was quite moving

    Tomorrow when the war began

Australian film about a bunch of kids who become guerilla fighters after going on a camping trip and coming home to find the country's been invaded.

The kids aren't anywhere near as irritating as the ones in American films (who is?) and the film buzzes along. Surprisingly enjoyable.

    Crackerjack

Bloke joins a bowling club in order to rent out his car parking space on a daily basis but is called into action to save the club from a corporate bad guy.

Charming and occasionally funny, even if we've seen all the characters before.

    Blood of my Brother

7/10 Look at the Iraq war in 2004-05 from an Iraqi civilians point of view. A civilian was killed by American forces, they never go into why however. Its a look into Shia life from the view point of one family with a few others sprinkled in. A good movie, a bit long and is totally from the view point of the Iraqi.

    Killing Bono

U2's classmates trying to make it on their own. Pretty funny.

    Sample dialogue:

    'We'll give you 10%'
    '10% of nothing is nothing'
'Brilliant. You can do the maths and everything'

'You have a gift. You could be the next James Joyce. Only with better punctuation.'
