Taken from the BBC Sport website :

Derby County owner Mel Morris has agreed to sell the Championship club to No Limits Sports Limited.

A protracted takeover of the Rams by Derventio Holdings was called off last month by Morris, who took over at Pride Park in 2015.

The new deal remains subject to the EFL's owners and directors' test.

Wayne Rooney's side are 18th in the second tier, eight points clear of the relegation zone with six matches of the season to play.

No Limit Sports Limited are owned by Spanish businessman Erik Alonso, who previously had a short period working as an advisor at rival Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.

Alonso said in a statement: "We are privileged to take ownership of one of the founding members of the Football League and to build a fresh future for the fans, staff and players of Derby County.

"It has undoubtedly been a difficult period both on and off the pitch for the club over the last two seasons and we recognise that all of the staff have been dedicated and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the club's first team and academy football operations were fulfilled.

"We are looking forward to working with Wayne Rooney and his team, and will do everything possible to support the club's vision and ambition.

"We would like to thank Mel Morris and his team for their support in helping to facilitate a quick and smooth transaction."

Until he proves me otherwise I will be sceptical - where is the funding coming from? what assets are being transferred? is he going to load the club with high interest debt whilst taking excessive "consulting fees"? who is backing him and what are their objectives

no sane or legit person with no connection or love for the club (Morris and Pickering) would buy Derby County - we all love the rams but as an investment it is a basket case

Sumal is also a "Director" of Kevin Pietersen global cricket academy if you go to Companies House since 2019.
My experience of Companies House..the info on there is worth next to nothing. He's down as being a director of only one business but you twist his name around and out pops another directorship..both out of the same address.

Bottom line most of us if not all of us don’t have a scooby doo who this bloke or any potential backers are. Everyone guessing and throwing names and rumors around.
I by nature am always on the pessimistic side of things. But honestly the last year or two on and off the pitch have been pretty shi* so until proved wrong I’m gonna take the approach that today’s news is good news and hopefully a step forward if or when it’s confirmed.

i think inserting Pu-239 up my ass would feel a lot better, than having this Spanish guy buy the club.
very UNDERWHELMING is this news, if he is the guy to take over.  Potential new owners 1f621

so we can now look forward to being a mid table club in this league (if we do stay up) or be a stable mid table club in league 1. i hope that the EFL do not agree to pass this sale.

i do not think that these new owners have a very big pot to piss in either. Bang head

    I'm with you NER.

We have a chairman currently who, for various justified reasons, wants out. Consequently we are a club drifting nowhere and until somebody takes over we will deteriorate.

I therefore will not look for reasons to dislike this bloke or draw any conclusions from Internet rumours. My son for instance will not support him because he has seen an unfounded rumour that he was part of a Nazi organisation!

Give him a chance and let's deal with what comes.

I googled "Erik Alonso nazi" and the only things I saw were pages where Alonso was mentioned in links to other pages on the DET from a page carrying the story about Hanson's Auctioneers selling a nazi medal that went for 36 grand when it had been expected to fetch between 3.5 and 4 grand. Not linking Alonso himself with nazis.

Sadly, it's not an unfounded rumour.

In 2019 someone with his exact full name and date of birth stood in the Spanish elections for the Vox Party. They are politically about half way between the EDL and UKIP. This is not him being politically naïve and randomly agreeing that illegal immigrants should be deported. This is being a member and representative of a party that is anti-Muslim, Anti-Gay, believes only white Spaniards should be citizens, and rape is acceptable in marriage. Unless something pretty significant develops, I won't attend games if this man is running our club - I will not give cash to a Fascist.

There is a suggestion that Vox 'spoofed' his identity and he was never actually a candidate. If that proves to be the case I will obviously reconsider. It's also possible that he ran on some local issue and was a little foolish not to consider the wider implications and now regrets his association - I'd be happy to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case. Even if he apologised and said he now understands that he was wrong, I'd cautiously welcome him.
But until he convinces me that his far right days either never existed or are now a much regretted youthful aberration, I will not support him.

Nobody accumulates Alonso's type of wealth without one or two skeletons in their cupboard, we can only guess at what we read, which may or may not be true, at least there are no links to the Russian Mafia Stirring the pot or drug smuggling or even bribery of referees Stirring the pot so all we can do is give him a chance and back him until he proves otherwise. (If it all goes through!)
